Mochimii

When I say "creep", I don't just mean the middle aged men hugging the teenage girls in maid outfits. I mean everyone in general who just stalks/glomps/tackles cosplayers at conventions. I am not posting this to tell you how to behave at conventions, but rather what is socially acceptable behavior.
 DO NOT GLOMP THE COSPLAYERS. I know that some of us are perfectly fine with the sneak attacks by fangirls on a pocky craze, but others feel uncomfortable with being mauled from behind. I have had this experience, and to me, it wasn't pleasant. I had to physically detach the girl from my person while she begged me for a photo. Please, don't be one of those people.
 DO NOT STALK/FOLLOW COSPLAYERS. Yes, we can see you. It's pretty obvious once we start conveniently running into you at every booth we're at, or panel rooms, etc. I know that we treat the fans with common courtesy and we ask you to do the same. It's the exact same feeling when you're in regular clothes and being followed by the man in a trenchcoat, down a dark alley.
DO NOT REPEATEDLY ASK THE COSPLAYER TO DO SOMETHING THEY DON'T WANT TO DO. Be it a certain pose, or repeatedly asking them to kiss/hug you, just don't do it. You scare us, and leave a horrifying imprint on our brains from our convention experience. If they don't want to do a certain thing, say thanks anyways and back off!
PLEASE PLEASE DON'T HUG SOMEONE HALF YOUR AGE IN A SKIMPY/MAID OUTFIT. At Ikkicon, my friend and I would be stopped every five seconds by a middle aged man asking for pictures/hugs. If you're forty, and you want to hug a stranger who's twenty seven years younger than you, I don't recommend it. Some of the cosplayers do get creeped out and a little mind scarred.

I'm pretty sure my horror stories are nothing compared to those of a veteran con goer, but it doesn't take a genius to know that some people you run into at conventions aren't exactly just being friendly.
 I was at Ikkicon last winter, basically acting as a bodyguard for my friend in a maid outfit, who, mind you, is only fourteen. I can't tell you how many times a middle aged man would come up to her and hug her. Especially this one man cosplaying as Mario who refused to let go for several minutes. I really don't know why the men at these conventions go after anything female and moving, but I try to avoid them.
 Also, believe it or not, what I would consider a creepy, old man, was passing out cookies to every girl in a skimpy cosplay. Maybe the man was just being nice, and checking to see if anyone wanted a cookie, but let's just put ourselves back in reality.
 The main reasons I prefer cosplaying guys over girls is so that I don't have to experience these situations again... The fangirls are nothing compared to these guys. I actually prefer a fangirl over a middle aged man glomping me, for specific reasons. One of them being that guys make me uncomfortable, and none of the fangirls are old enough to own a white van.
